The various rings of the Council of Catholic Women, including your own Council, publish a variety of publications:

Parish Publications

You may think that you do not publish anything, but you probably do. First of all, do you use an agenda for your board and/or general meetings? (if not, consider it; however informal yours is, it really does help to you and your attendees focus your meetings and keep you on track)  Do you print an annual calendar of your meetings in your bulletin or distribute one at various meetings?  What about the program booklet many parishes print up for their annual luncheon, fashion show or other large meeting?  Some Parish CCWs have a kind of yearbook which lists the names and tasks of the current board, sometimes even the names of the current membership.  One or two really lucky Parish CCWs even produce newsletters for their parish and membership.  All of these publications are not only informative for your members, but are great public relations for your CCW, as they are a visible demonstration of your professionalism.

Deanery Publications

           All Deaneries affiliated with the Joliet Diocesan Council of Catholic Women have annual Spring Institutes at which some kind of program booklet is distributed to attendees.  Most of our deaneries publish periodic newsletters which are distributed by USmail, e-mail, or at deanery meetings. Check with your Deanery President to find out if they publish one, and how it is distributed (maybe even offer to assist with its publication and/or distribution?)

Diocesan Publications

           The Joliet Diocesan CCW publishes a tri-annual newsletter: News & Focus, a copy of which is sent to each parish affiliate; it is also uploaded to their website: www.dioceseofjoliet.org/ccw  In addition, the Diocesan CCW publishes a program booklet for its annual Woman of the Year Mass & Luncheon, as well as for its biennial Convention.  Its annual calendar is also published on the website.  In addition, letters are sent throughout the year to Parish CCW Presidents with various Commission seminars and other information, requests, forms, etc., many of which are available on its website.

National Publications

           The principal national publication is its bi-monthly magazine; Catholic Woman is mailed to the president of record of every paid affiliate, Individual Members of the National Council of Catholic Women, and certain members of the Diocesan Board.  However, on its website: http://nccw.org they also publish a semi-annual Commission newsletter: Bulletin Board, and periodic short Commission articles in its “Speed Read” series, and a number of other documents of interest to CCW members.

Other publications are available from the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organizations, a world-wide federation of over 100 Catholic women’s organizations from all over the world which was recently given special Vatican status by the Pope, Associates of NCCW, NCCW Friends of WUCWO, and Catholic Relief Services a partner of NCCW; ask a Diocesan Board member for information on any of these.
