Job Descriptions: Yours & Others
CCW Organization Notebook provided by the Joliet Diocesan CCW
When a new affiliate President and officers begin to assemble a Board for an upcoming term, and line up event chairs, one of their essential tools is a set of JOB DESCRIPTIONS!
These can be formal or informal, but they should be written! Is the Vice President also the Special Arrangements Chair (organizing and arranging for particular events of the affiliate)? Is the Organization Services Chair asked to keep the records of volunteer hours of the board? Does your Corresponding Secretary also serve as the Chair of the Election Committee? What specific tasks does your Fashion Show coordinator need to do?
Every parish CCW Council (as well as other affiliate councils) needs to create (or
update!) a set of Job Descriptions for every on-
One idea might be to use some or all of the following format:
1. What are the benefits to the volunteer?
2. What hours required (flexible or set?)
3. When will the job be performed? (months, timeframe)
4. What is the job title?
5. Where will the job be performed? Is it possible for the volunteer to work at home? Will the volunteer need to travel to another location? When or how often?
6. To whom does the volunteer report?
7. What are the goals and objectives of the job? (Measurable outcomes if possible)
8. What are the tasks for the volunteer?
9. With which individuals or groups will the volunteer work?
10. What are the skills, personal attributes, or training required?
Part of the Job Descriptions for your council will devolve from the goals you and your affiliate have chosen for a particular year/term: Samples from the New Ulm DCCW include: These are the roles and responsibilities of CCW leadership. President: To attend or have a replacement attend all meetings, gatherings and conventions of CCW. Secretary: To take accurate concise minutes. Treasurer: To keep an accurate calendar as to procedures and spendables on a monthly basis for the fiscal year.. Church Commission: Organize and sponsor a holy hour and adoration for vocations. Family Concerns Commission: To invigorate our commitment to the life ethic resolution adopted by the NUDCCW; Reverence Life: To continue to promote Project Rachael throughout the diocese; .Scholarship: To encourage each parish to have a scholarship coordinator and to reinforce last year’s goal of encouraging at least one application and donation from each parish. International Concerns Commission: To continue with special project of earning funds to build the new library in San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala. Legislation Commission: Fill Region and Parish Commission posts. Organization Commission: Opening Wide the Doors to Christ through CCW by publicity and updating job descriptions. . Historian: To keep records to share with future generations in preserving our past Goals can be challenges that bring about great satisfaction when achieved. Councils of Catholic Women can add this element of satisfaction… by achieving the goals we set for ourselves.
