A Purse Auction
Enjoy a fun time and take home a new purse and “surprise
Women love to shop and women love purses!”
Each person is encouraged to bring a purse with a “special” item placed in it to the auction. (You can set a value or price for the “special item” in the directions to the group.)The winning bidder will have a lovely purse with an additional surprise hidden inside it. There are all kinds of “cute, creative” things that could be placed within the purse.
Encourage participants to use their imaginations when selecting the extra surprise!
What shall it be? A Live Auction OR A Silent Auction
A “live” auction is a lot of fun, especially when you get two people who want the same purse. A “real” auctioneer would be great, but if one is not available, a member can “pretend” to be an auctioneer. In a “live” auction, the winning bidder would take a minute to show what was inside the purse.
A silent auction might not be quite as much fun.
Prepare tags or labels for the purses and bidding sheets labeled with the same numbers as the matching purses. Allow enough time during your meeting or social time or refreshments – whatever is going on during the silent bidding, so the purses may be viewed and bids recorded on the matching sheets. At the end hold each purse up & announce the winning bidder. Collect the bidding sheets so you know how much money was raised on each purse.
Reminder: While we wish that everyone brings a purse and does some bidding/buying, some may not bring any but only purchase one or more!
