Andrea Closs
I joined St. Matthew’s CCW to feed my need to give back. During 2007 – 2009, I was the membership chair and currently (2009 – 2011), I am their vice president. Also at St. Matthew’s, I teach English as a Second Language along with being a Project Gabriel “Angel” and coordinator.
In September 2009, I attended the CCW National Convention in Jacksonville, Florida, where I felt a deeper connection to the organization and the women involved. At the convention, I was “recruited” to join the Deanery and I felt honored to be asked.
To my St. Matthew CCW position and to the Deanery, the Family Concerns Commission position, I bring a vast amount of administrative/organizational experience due to my “day job” as an executive assistant. Learning is an enjoyment for me and I look forward to learning, growing and developing into an able, competent, enriched CCW leader.
I like to close with the following prayer from The Catholic Devotional (A Collection of Prayer and Inspiration for every Catholic):
A Prayer for One’s Family
Father sometimes the family gets me down.
The children are noisy and bills pile up.
Relatives and friends make demands on my time and attention.
I try to keep first things first and create an atmosphere where Your name is honored.
Your word observed.
But I get tired and a hard edge creeps into my voice.
Help me to cope with the daily strains of living in a family.
Help me to sustain a climate in which my partner can grow in Your love, to encourage my children to develop fully the talents You have given them and to make of my family the community of love that Your Son came to bring.
Amen.
